The Nevada State Bar is responsible for the Nevada bar exam. The Bar does not release past bar exam questions to the public.

The Nevada bar exam, a 2½-day exam, consists of

  • the six-hour Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), weighted 33%;
  • one 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) problem;
  • eight 60-minute Nevada essay questions.

The successful applicant must achieve a total scaled score of 75 on the exam as a whole, as well as passing at least 3 essays with a scaled score of 75. Applicants also must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) with a scaled score of 85 within three years before or after passing the bar exam.

Application packets are not currently available online.  Application packets must be ordered from the bar for a $50 fee.

The following subjects may be tested on the Nevada bar exam:

  • agency and partnership (business associations)  
  • community property
  • conflict of laws
  • constitutional law
  • contracts, including UCC Article 2 sales
  • corporations (business associations)
  • criminal law and procedure 
  • domestic relations (family law)
  • evidence 
  • legal ethics (professional responsibility) (tested on every exam)
  • pleading and practice (civil procedure) (Nevada and federal)
  • real property (including real estate finance)
  • remedies
  • torts
  • UCC Articles 1 (general provisions), 2 (sales), 3 (negotiable instruments), 9 (secured transactions)
  • wills, trusts, and estates.
