The Oklahoma Board of Bar Examiners is responsible for the Oklahoma Bar Exam. Oklahoma's Examiners do not release essay questions or answers.

The Oklahoma bar exam, a two-day exam, consists of

  • the six-hour multiple-choice Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), and;
  • sixteen 30-minute Oklahoma essay questions.

The successful applicant must achieve a grade of at least 75% on the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct, 75% on the essay portion, and 135 minimum on the MBE.  Applicants also must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) with a scaled score of 75 within five years before or one year after taking the bar exam.

The following subjects may be tested on the Oklahoma bar exam:

  • administrative law
  • business associations, which includes
    • agency
    • partnerships and joint ventures
    • corporations
    • limited liability companies
  • commercial law, which includes
    • bankruptcy
    • consumer law
    • contracts, including UCC Article 2 sales 
    • creditors' rights
    • Uniform Commercial Code, including Articles 1 (general provisions), 2 (sales), 3 (negotiable instruments), and 9 (secured transactions)
  • conflicts of law
  • constitutional law
  • criminal law and procedure
  • estate planning, including federal estate & gift taxation 
  • family law
  • procedural law, which includes
    • evidence
    • pleadings (civil procedure)
    • practice (civil procedure)
    • remedies, including damages, equity, and restitution
  • professional conduct (Oklahoma)
  • property, including real estate finance
  • torts
  • wills, trusts, estates, and intestate succession.
