The Oregon State Bar is responsible for the Oregon Bar Exam. Oregon's Examiners do not release essay questions or answers, although they are available for sale.

The Oregon Bar exam, a two-day exam, consists of

  • the six-hour multiple-choice Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), weighted 50%;
  • one 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) problem, weighted 12.5%;
  • nine 35-minute Oregon essay questions, weighted 37.5%.

The successful applicant will receive a combined scaled score of 65.00. Applicants also must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) with a scaled score of 85 within two years of the bar examination.

The maximum length of an Oregon essay answer is 3 pages or 4,000 characters. Copies of prior exam questions and their answers are available for $25 per exam from the Oregon State Bar.

    • partnerships
  • civil litigation, including
    • civil procedure  (federal and Oregon)
    • evidence  (federal and Oregon)
  • commercial transactions, including
    • agency
    • contracts, including UCC Article 2 sales 
    • UCC Articles 1 (general provisions), 2 (sales), 9 (secured transactions)
  • legal ethics (Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct)
  • property, including
    • decedents' estates (wills)
    • real property, including real estate finance
    • trusts (wills)
  • public law, including
    • administrative law and procedure (federal and Oregon)
    • constitutional law
    • criminal law and procedure
    • federal income taxation
  •  torts.
